HEALTHY BREAKFASTS PROJECT:
Writing: Let's try to add a piece of fruit in our breakfasts, before coming to school or in the break... or both! During two weeks we are going to divide into groups of 3-5 students and record what we have for breakfast each day. We will classify our breakfasts into three colours, like in traffic lights: red (not healthy), orange (so-so), green (very healthy= this includes at least a piece of fruit!): you discuss and decide on how to apply the colours! The goal is to get as many green squares as possible... and incorporate fruit into our breakfasts! Remember to incude 5-a-day!  This is, three portions of vegetables and two servings of fruit.

ESO1: Games with vocabulary (family and body)

Watch this video and snap your fingers!

Do you know this family? What members of the family can you name? Father, mother... Husband, wife... The text below will help you!

The slogan of the film is "weird is relative"... what's the double meaning of "relative"?

Gomez Addams - the head of the household, as long as its okay with Morticia. Independently wealthy allowing him to spend his time enjoying all sorts of activities with his family. Loves sword fighting, blowing up his trains, and all forms of competition.

Morticia Addams - Gomez' beautiful wife. Especially enjoys any sort of activity with Gomez, and almost always beats him at whatever they do. Seems to have a real knack for some things - such as interior decorating, painting, and playwriting

Wednesday Addams - 12 year old daughter of Gomez and Morticia. Respects her parents and follows their example very closely. She resembles Morticia when Morticia was young. She is described to the police as: "Wears her hair in long dark braids, has the most innocent face, and likes to carry a scalpel"  Enjoys being with her brother and especially enjoys attempts to torture him and hear him scream.

Pugsley Addams - younger 9-year old brother of Wednesday. More than anyone else in the family, Pugsley sometimes acts almost normal - to the dismay of the family who get very worried about him. His famous scream is a staple of the show. Pugsley loves animals of all types. He is very good at checkers.

Fester Addams - is Gomez' unmarried younger brother. Loves bombs, explosives, grenades, and explosions in general.

Eudora Addams - Gomez and Fester's Mama. She's a witch with a licence from the Department of Witchcraft and is also a doctor (witch doctor?). Her spells are a bit rusty and often don't work. But she tries really hard and cooks up great meals for the family. Wednesday and Pugsley call her "Grandmama". Eudora loves soap operas.

Lurch - the devoted family butler. The 8 foot tall serious deep-voiced Lurch puts the family ahead of himself and is often very insecure. Does all the household chores except for the cooking. He is color blind. Lurch enjoys and is very good at Poker.

Thing - Thing T. Thing - a disembodied hand that lives with the family and helps around the house. Talks through sign language and drinks through his fingers. He has his own little room, complete with a little bed

They have a special pet... it's a hand! Do you remember the body parts we learnt with the rap song?

ESO1, 3 and 4: Summer Homework

Dear students,

You have already got your summer homework dossier.

ESO1
Dossier for ESO1 is pretty easy to follow and review the contents we have seen during the year. Remember you can find different games and fun activities here: http://spoonful.com/summer. Try at least one of them and you can comment it on when you come back! It's a webpage from the USA so you can learn more about the 4th of July as well (Independence Day).

ESO3 (and ESO4 if you sit September exams)

For year 3 and 4 you have a dossier with the following contents:

a) Vocabulary exercises (two pages)
b) Grammar exercises (two pages)
c) A song

For a) and b) write your answers in pen on the dossier and write on a separate sheet the exercises that don't fit on the page. In the b) section in the Listening exercise just translate the expression, and we will do the Speaking in class.

For the song, fill in the gaps while listening the song on Youtube, and complete the fact file. IMPORTANT: You have to look for another song you like and do a similar page:

1) Look for a song and the lyrics (look at http://www.azlyrics.com) and remove five or seven words (pùt the in a box)
2) Include a picture of the singer
3) Research his/her biography and make an exercise like the FACT FILE.
4) Translate the song.
PRINT YOUR WORK and BE CREATIVE! :)

I hope you enjoy the activity AND MAKE YOUR BEST THIS SUMMER!
Best wishes,
Humberto

The ghosts and the ghouls and the witches
They will run a mile
When they see my scary smile

Put me in the window
And I'll chase the night away

ESO1: Hot and Cold... Sunny and rainy...

LISTEN AND READ!... (SING and DANCE!)
You change your mind
Like a girl changes clothes
Yeah you, PMS
Like a bitch
I would know
And you overthink
Always speak
Cryptically
I should know
That you're no good for me

Cause you're hot then you're cold
You're yes then you're no
You're in and you're out
You're up and you're down
You're wrong when it's right
It's black and it's white
We fight, we break up
We kiss, we make up
You, You don't really want to stay, no
You, but you don't really want to go-o
You're hot then you're cold
You're yes then you're no
You're in and you're out
You're up and you're down

We used to be
Just like twins
So in sync
The same energy
Now's a dead battery
Used to laugh bout nothing
Now your plain boring

I should know that
you're not gonna change

Cause you're hot then you're cold
You're yes then you're no
You're in and you're out
You're up and you're down
You're wrong when it's right
It's black and it's white
We fight, we break up
We kiss, we make up
You, You don't really want to stay, no
You, but you don't really want to go-o
You're hot then you're cold
You're yes then you're no
You're in and you're out
You're up and you're down

Someone call the doctor
Got a case of a love bi-polar
Stuck on a roller coaster
Can't get off this ride

You change your mind
Like a girl changes clothes

Cause you're hot then you're cold
You're yes then you're no
You're in then you're out
You're up then you're down
You're wrong when it's right
It's black and it's white
We fight, we break up
We kiss, we make up
You're hot then you're cold
You're yes then you're no
You're in then you're out
You're up then you're down
You're wrong when it's right
It's black and it's white
We fight, we break up
We kiss, we make up
(you) You don't really want to stay, no
(but you) But you don't really want to go-o
You're hot then you're cold
You're yes then you're no
You're in then you're out
You're up then you're down, down...

ESO1: Animals JClic + Describe your favourite animal!

Here you have some games to practise your vocabulary.
http://clic.xtec.cat/db/act_en.jsp?id=3579

Remember to hand in the description of your favourite animal and your corresponding animal for the ABC ZOO!

A dolphin belongs to the kingdom of animals, vertebrates, mammals. A dolphin lives in water. There are salt-type and fresh-type dolphins. Some kinds of salt-types are spinners, bottle-nosed, and common. Some types of fresh-types are Irrawaddy, amazon, Ganges. There is 50+ species of dolphins and more to discover. Recent studies say that dolphins are just as smart as people if not more, and should be called non-human-people. They breath through blowholes not their mouths, like people. Dolphins eat fish, octopus, squid, crap, and other seafood. The most popular kind of dolphin for parks is the bottle-nosed dolphin. If you want to buy a dolphin, you better start saving your money! Dolphins are cetaceans (see-tay-shuns). Dolphins live in pods or schools and if a lot of dolphins get together its a herd. Baby dolphins are called calfs. Porpoises are similar but are not the same! Look at the differences! (*porpoise= marsopa).
