ESO4: ECO-CAMPAIGNS 2017

Hi! Thank your for your FANTASTIC ideas to change the world! Here you have a mind map of the ideas you shared in class for your campaigns. You can use bubbl.us or other similar webppages to create mind maps and connect ideas in a visual way.

Remember to fill in the document you can find in your Drive, it will help you create and develop your campaign. The steps to follow are:
1. Brainstorming: what environmental problems do we find around us? Which ones worry or conern us the most? Whaat is in our hands to help?
2. Choose one of the problems and look for the causes and consequences. Are there aany campaigns addressing it? Can we get some ideas and/or contribute to the cause? Look at the visuals of their campaign: posters, videos, logos, mottos.. who are they addressing to? How are they trying to convince people?
3. Create your own campaign. Create a poster and dare with a video too! You can create an online campaign or distribute leaflets. Your materials should be adapted to your audience and your idea! E.g. use recycled paper...
4. Oral presentation: prepare a presentation for the class; all members have to present a different idea of the project.
5. Assess your work and your campaign. What is the impact of your campaign? Have you contributed to change the world for the better? What was your role? How do you assess your performance and your classmates' (in your group and the other groups)?

Good luck: together we can change the world! Think globally, act locally... or beyond!

EUROSCOLA 2015: SMILING STARS PROJECT

This year you have worked really hard for the contest, and the results have been amazing. Here you can check the blog for the project. Thank you for your implication you are fantastic! Our project continues in collaboration with local NGOs and communicating it via different media so...Keep tuned!

Email from Senegal:

Dear students,

We have visited the SPER school in the outskirts of Dakar. The taxi driver didn't know were it was exactly but he then told us that he knew the cook at the center! When we arrived, Mr Carvalho and the kids welcomed us, they were very polite. Mr Carvalho showed us the facilities of their school: they have a kitchen, a patio, several bedrooms for the kids and a classroom were they have a small bookcase, three big desks and some chairs and a blackboard. He tells us that kids here arrive voluntarily, through different activities they carry on in the streets. Each of them carry sad stories but they are free to explain them or not. In the SPER (Solidarité pour les Enfants de la Rue) they are devoted to help these children, give them shelter, food and education. So you are actually collaborating beyond education. They are in touch with La Puponnière so they will be so kind to deliver the baby materials and toys to them.

They were really happy to receive your contribution: notebooks, pens, colored pencils.... are very much needed here, as well as clothes. They also loved the footballs! So they really thank you from the bottom of their hearts and send you lots of love. Their smile is the best present we can have.

Here you have some pictures from Senegal, people here is very cheerful, nature is impressive and the Pink Lake... is really pink! Hope you were here. In a way you are (look at the walls!).

Best wishes and congratulations for your hard work

We share the same values! Like in our posters. Now you have cooperated in their education process improving their opportunities through access to your materials... and your support!

ESO4: Campaign for a cause (2)

CAMPAIGNS:
Who is this girl? Where is she from? How old is she? What's her campaign about? Why is it so important?
http://images.huffingtonpost.com/2012-11-06-317539_10151084300836993_1184301602_n.jpgDivide into groups of 3 to 5 students, choose a cause and design a campaign.
Suggestions: ENVIRONMENT (endangered species, recycling, carbon footprint, global warming/climate change); GLOBAL ISSUES (poverty, racism, xenophobia, homophobia, bullying...).

First of all, decide who are you addressing the campaign to. Think of the content (problem, causes, consequences, how we can help) and the form of advertising (posters, leaflets, radio announcement, ...). You may want to use the Internet for your cause (virals, meme, change.org, Tweeter hashtags...). Use language creatively (puns, rhymes...) to get your message through!

Comment the aspects of communication in the following campaigns: and identify the source ("emisor") and the addressees ("receptor"), code (language), channel (image, text, video, poster...), and the message itself:

A Racist Threw A Banana At A Soccer Player — And Folks On Instagram Had The Perfect Reaction

Dani Alves

In the 76th minute of yesterday's game against Villarreal, a racist threw a banana at Barcelona defender and Brazilian national team player Dani Alves.
Alves had a brilliant response — he peeled the banana, ate it, and took his corner kick.
After the game he explained, "It's been happening for 11 years, we can't change it, so best to treat it as a joke. If we give it no importance, they fail."
As Alves gesture spread throughout the soccer world, other players showed their support by posting pictures of themselves eating bananas on Instagram.
The photos are tagged with "Somos Todos Macacos" — which means "we are all monkeys" in Portuguese.
It's now a meme.
Neymar, who plays with Alves on both Barcelona and the Brazilian national team, posed with his son:

ESO3: EURO-SCOLA CONTEST INSPIRATION: BE CREATIVE!

lip dub _ SES Badalona from amb E on Vimeo.
Once you have finished reading the comics, watching the videos and checking the links is time to read the posts on Facebook and Tweeter because there is a clue for one of the 12 questions you will be asked in the final contest (worth 50% of the points!).

This done, is time for you to be creative! Each group of 10 has to create a blog and feed it with your progress as far as your projects are concerned. Remember that the general topic is the European Union, and the specific one for 2014 is the European Election on May and their campaign "Act. React. Impact".

BLOG: Two members of the team will be in charge of creating the blog. Choose a design, a name (you can use your Team's name), and write your first entry: an introduction to your team members, your school, and your motivations. Include a picture and describe what you have done so far! "We decided our name... We read the comic and played the characters... We watched the videos and discussed the links...". For the blog: www.blogger.com. Check the blogs made by your 4th ESO colleagues in 2013 here and their campaigns: Swaggers,
These instructions can help you. We will divide the timing in three phases, like in a real campaign: pre-production, production and post-production.

PRE-PRODUCTION:

Firstly, the team has to do a brainstorming of ideas: WHAT topic you are going to deal with, and WHY the aspect you have chosen is important to promote. You can find your inspiration in the comic/videos/links mentioned before.

Secondly, you have to decide HOW you are going to do it. Here you have some ideas: posters, videos, short film, comics, radio programs, survey, stopmotion animation, musical show, lipdub... for example, look at this lipdub on the right... can you organize something like this?:

Thirdly, yo have to plan WHEN and WHERE are you going to do it. This is a matter of organization. It is also important to know WHO is going to do what: director, actor, writer, camera, designer... And if you want to get the help of other people or organizations. Check this: http://ec.europa.eu/spain/barcelona/index_ca.htm

PRODUCTION:
This is when you actually shoot, record, cut, draw, play, write, or direct what you have planned. Remember to include your progress in your blog.

POST-PRODUCTION:
This is when you show your output to the world. Apart from your blog you can post in in the school''s blog, La Rotllana, the local media (TV, radio, press...), social networks, etc. Think BIG!

Good luck!

Here you have what the winners did last year. And also some more inspiration!

25 Useful Brainstorming Techniques

ESO3: Euro-scola projects and 9th May-Europe's Day

OK guys, I am very glad of your work. The four teams have been working really hard on their campaigns for the promotion of the European Union. They have focused on aspects that caught their attention and thought of a creative way to reach their goals. The process has been long but fun: reading comics and watching videos about the EU origin, values and services; deciding on a project; brainstorming ideas; being creative; working together; sharing their work... and now seeing the results!
Check all the groups and their different projects through their blogs (click on their names). They are spreading the word of their cause so if you like it, link their project and make others aware of it:
During Europe's Day, taking into account the values abovementioned, all groups will join forces to celebrate the event and they are already working on three activities:
  • a. Common display with posters about the EU, institutions and official campaigns.
  • b. Football match as a re-enactment of a European countries mini-league during the break.
  • c. Music concert of our 3rd ESO students playing the anthem of the EU with their recorders, xylophones and the keyboard under an exceptional conductor: Sílvia Ríos.
We hope you enjoy this great day with us!
